Fall Foliage

This was my awesome fall day outfit that I put together all on my own...whoop whoop, lol. Anyway, this was very comfortable, the sweater and the tights really kept me warm and of course I felt like I looked like a bazillion bucks without paying that much. I paired with some patent leather flats and was out the door running around campus :-)

Sweat-Proof Make-up

1. Keep shine controllers handy.

A smooth, matte makeup look won’t last long if you’re going to be exposed to the sun or partaking in any kind of physical activity. That’s why shine reducing tools like blotting paper and oil-control rolls should be a mainstay in your purse or everyday travel beauty kit. If you prefer not to blot your makeup, try a shine control moisturizer or gel.

2. Don’t shy away from tints and stains.

Invest in a few lip and cheek tints or stains to extend the life of your makeup while on the go. They last longer than a regular blush shade or lip color. For the lips, try to avoid creamy lipsticks. If you do rock them, use a sealant over the hue. Don’t own any cheek tints? Try using lipstick or a lip tint to do the trick.

3. Primers are a girl’s best friend.

If you want long-lasting makeup, you have to use makeup primer. Not only do they help makeup stay on your face longer, they prep the skin by creating a matte, oil-absorbing palette before application.

4. Embrace tinted moisturizer.

Sometimes a fully made-up face can actually feel too heavy especially in superhot weather. For a lighter formula with good coverage, use a tinted moisturizer.

5. Oil-free is the way to be.

Substitute oil-based products with liquid, gel and powder formulas. For eyes, many of the kohl pencils are wax-based which melt or are more prone to running in humid weather. To combat this, opt for gel and liquid eyeliners. The same applies for foundation and concealer. Look for oil-free cosmetics with ingredients such as silica, a mineral that reduces shine.

Create Peace

Wore this a couple of days ago, thought it was cute and simple. Can't stand getting overdressed for class, though maybe a few of you may beg to differ :-)
Shirt: Delias
Jeans: Mr. Price (Kenya)
Shoes: Papaya

I love this sweatshirt! It was kinda windy today but this definitely kept me warm. I wear tanks underneath my asymmetrical tops coz I'm kinda self conscious of my shoulder being fully bare, lol.
Sweatshirt: Forever 21
Jeans: Mr. Price
Scarf: Forever 21

Close up of the shoes. Very comfortable for walking around school and were cheap too...

Forgot to take a pic with the scarf  I threw on, felt like I needed a bit of color.

A few things I got from Kohls recently:
Cream Lace sweatshirt: $17.99
Navy Crop-top: $10.99
Bow Gaucho pants (Always wanted a pair of these): $16.80
Lilac Asymmetrical top: $13.00

Everything is from the junior's section. And I'm no junior :-)
Surprisingly the sizes run a little large, had to return a ton of stuff because they were just too loose.

I would love to see how everybody else dresses for class n all, that's about all I get dressed for so don't hate me for my lack of sophisticated fashion posts :-) But I do adore all the cool peeps on the side bar, check em out!
And while you're at it, tell me what you wear to class or other activities that do not require you get all glammed up! Links are welcomed!

Worth A Read...

Source
Priscilla is totally in love with Kenneth and keeps on pressuring him for marriage. Kenneth noncommittally promises to marry her- after he has found himself first. She is ready to wait for him as long as he wants though she feels ready to marry him at that moment and wonders why they have to wait. What is he waiting for her to become that she isn’t now? She is even ready to marry him even though he will not love her as much as she would want him to. (Madness). In two years of dating, he breaks up with her almost every week for fights over one issue- marriage, and Priscilla, like a lost poodle goes with this emotional rollercoaster hoping that each time it will last. Two weeks to the day he is supposed to propose (they have finally given themselves a deadline), he finally tells her that he does not loves her anymore. Priscilla is off course devastated. But she has to learn to let go of the man on whom she had pegged her hopes and dreams, and trust God for her future with or without Kenneth. The reader may not be as surprised that she finally does not marry Kenneth. Throughout her entries, it is obvious to everyone but her that something is seriously wrong with this relationship.
What is so gripping about this story is that it mirrors so many of our lives though we will not always admit of the desperation that often marks our love lives. We are grappling with relationships that are, clear to everyone but us, not working. We are living with men who do not respect our choices or us and treat us accordingly. We are daily making unwise choices without considering the effect they have on our present and future. It is the reason a woman will live with a man till he batters her to the grave. And the reason she will entertain his sleeping around until it also kills her. Or like Priscilla, we leave our hearts and emotions out in the open, to be trampled by anyone who cares. Reason? We do not value ourselves. Consequently we hook up with men who do not, cannot value us.

Priscilla puts is as thus: “Why did I continue to hang onto Kenneth so desperately? Why didn’t I seem to care whether or not the man I loved valued me as a priceless ruby? In retrospect, the answer is simple: I did not value myself highly enough to recognise that I deserved the kind of love a Christian man is supposed to have for a woman. Ken wasn’t even capable of loving me for six months straight. How could I have expected him to love me for a life time?”

Priscilla was settling for much less than she was worth. Because of the way Kenneth treated her, she came to view herself as thus- unworthy of a man’s love, replaceable, common as the grass. She downplayed her beauty, uniqueness, gifts and talents because one man did not acknowledge of them or treat her with dignity.
We so often make the same mistakes. We hang around the wrong kind of men who give us wrong tags and forever define us as thus. Resultantly we cannot see ourselves as anything else other than that. Have you ever noticed that if the man in your life calls you beautiful you feel beautiful and act beautiful? He calls you a tramp and treats you like one, and you cannot possibly understand why another man would see you as a queen. You feel like a tramp.

Self-discovery is among the most important things you will ever do as a woman. The moment you wait for your job, title, career, worse still your man to define you, you fall the risk of being thoroughly mishandled, and not just by a man. Of course you may be lucky to get a man (father, husband, friend) who sees you with the eyes of potential and lets you know it. Be grateful. But do not peg your life around that because when they are gone you will lose your identity. Find yourself.

I'm a Maxi Girl!

So summer is right around the corner. My favorite time of the year, including spring. Time to break out the maxi dresses for me. I love their comfort n airiness. Here are a few I just got...can u tell I'm obsessed with stripes???

PS: Wondering why this darn blogger has no outfit posts on a "fashion" blog??? Well, its winter and I have nothing to show off, except my coat which might get boring! I'll start posting outfits as soon as it gets warmer, maybe next winter I'll be comfortable enough to put together winter outfits...anybody else have this problem? Personally I only get dressed to keep warm in the winter.

PPS: The first two are moderately short. I am about 5'7 and they dont completely cover my ankles which bugs me. So I'm returning them, wish I didn't have to.... I absolutely love the turquoise one...
The rest are a perfect length.

I hear with my little ear...

My top 3 favorites
Olubankole Wellington (born 1981), known under the stage name Banky W, is an American Nigerian R&B artist. Wellington was born in the United States to Nigerian parents, but the family moved back to Lagos Nigeria when he was five years old where he began singing in his church choir. He kind of reminds me of Marques Houston...

Finally..

Sooo....I finally met my soul mate boot :)

I've searched high n low for real leather boots I can actually stand, who would have thought I'd find them here

All the rest have either been too expensive, not real leather or whatever I felt like discriminating against at that particular moment. Oh, and calf size is just right, finally!

PS: Returned the black ones, a bit too long. Makes me look like a leprechaun :)

Just because...

If you're like me and are always cold, a cardigan comes in handy anytime u get the chills. I just got the Norma Kamali for Walmart batwing cardigan and its super warm and looks so cute with fitted jeans. Have it in black, red and cocoa, will be great for spring when its too warm for a coat but still chilly n I need to cover up. Check it out, unique piece for $18!
Tends to be on the bigger side so purchase accordingly, arms are really snug too...cant wait to stack a whole lot of bangles n jingle away
